Game of Thrones – Complete Season 1 on DVD & Blu-Ray
Game of Thrones follows the story of the battle for the throne of Westeros. Seven noble families are fighting it out with lots of sexual and political intrigue along the way. On top of this is the growing and as yet unseen threat posed by creatures from the North and that threat is starting to escalate as Winter approaches.
The fantasy universe created by George RR Martin in his book series is truly epic and not surprisingly some fans were worried that it simply wouldn’t transfer to television and even if it could be done, it would cost so much money, that whatever studio picked it up would have to cut corners and the end product would not be fitting.
However, those fans have been proved wrong and everyone else too has been totally stunned by the first season of Game of Thrones. It is a true masterpiece of genre television. Not only have HBO delivered with the production values, but the cast have also delivered when it comes to the passion they inject into their roles. Not a single one of them let the show down.
The DVD and Blu-Ray packages are similarly well put together as can be seen by the impressive list of extras below.
This is definitely something you should be considering adding to your collection.
The Walking Dead Execs Promise Good Stuff for Season 3.
Robert Kirkman and Glen Mazzara, executive producers of The Walking Dead revealed a few snippets of information about the forthcoming third season of the hit zombie TV show.
Confirming that he had just finished working on the script for the third season premiere, according to The Hollywood Reporter, Mazarra said, "It’s pretty dynamic and action-packed with tons of zombies, but also a lot of quieter moments and a lot of heart.
"This is a group of survivors, a family that has come together and they have no good options, no place to go and they’re really trying to keep themselves alive, and keep each other alive.
"You can see how desperate they are; they’re clinging to each other. It’s those moment of human interaction and heart that are important."
Initially seen by some as a bit of a risk, the TV show, although staying true to the original comic book series from a storyline point of view, uses different characters, and Kirkman implied that if you are a fan of the comics, then season three would be a treat for you saying: "For comic fans, they know the good stuff is coming. The really intense stuff with Michonne, the Governor and Woodbury really defined the comic book series and we haven’t even gotten to that stuff yet.
"Now that we’re getting to that stuff in season three, it’s really going to change the show quite a bit."
He went on to say that a particularly memorable moment from the comic book series will be see in the third season premiere, but that it will feature a different character. Indicating his intention to carry on this trend, he further teased: "There will be cases where something memorable… will be displaced and given to somebody else.
"I’ll hint that that actually happens in our first episode back in season three – something memorable that happened to a character in the comic is happening in the show in our first episode back, and it’s not the same character."
As The Walking Dead has broken all sorts of records with regard to viewing figures as well as getting really positive feedback from fans, it looks like the gamble to change some characters for key story lines has paid off and hasn’t alienated the comic book fans.
It has also been confirmed that the third season will be set in the town of Woodbury, so if the traditions of sticking closely to the comic book storylines continues then the next safe place for our group of survivors will be Woodbury prison. It also indicates the possibility of a really long run for the TV show if viewing figures stay high as seasons one and two only covered the first 12 comics in the series – and the current run of comic books is on issue 95!
Every little girl dreams about having their happily ever after just like in a fairy story but in reality this is never the case. Women grow up reading about princesses, waiting for their own Prince Charming to sweep them off their feet. However, a new fantasy drama will turn everything you have ever believed about fairy tales upside down.
‘Once Upon A Time’ is the brand new drama by Channel 5 and it is the complete opposite of a traditional fairytale because in the programme there is no happily ever after.
The drama was created by Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz, the team behind Lost and Tron: Legacy; and it features a feisty woman called Emma Swan who knows how to take care of herself. The 28-year-old has been fending for herself ever since she was abandoned as a baby at the side of a road but everything changes when her own son, whom she too gave up for adoption, appears on her doorstep 10-years-later.
The young lad, called Henry, is in desperate need of his birth mother’s help because he believes that she derives from an alternate world in which she is the missing daughter of Snow White and Prince Charming. Still following?
According to the book of fairytales, Emma was sent away to be protected from the Evil Queen’s curse which trapped all of the characters in the real life world. However, they are not even aware that they are lost fairytale characters and are simply living in a town in America called Storybrooke. Here in this strange town, magic has been forgotten and the Evil Queen is known as Regina, who is now Henry’s adoptive mother.
The epic series aired at 8pm on 1st April and the second episode aired on 8th April. If you want to delve deeper into the cast and learn more about these iconic fairytale characters, you can catch up on the episodes with Demand 5.

The BBC warned quite a while ago that due to budget cut backs there would likely a cancellation of either Being Human, The Fades or Lip Service. Sure enough, Being Human and Lip Service have both been renewed and so consequently, the BBC have declined the option to renew The Fades for a second season.
It’s a shame really because The Fades showed quite some promise as it was well written, was well acted and even had relatively good ratings.
The ending of the first season also left things open for a fantastic opening to the second season, with the proucers stating that they had at least a three season story arc to complete, but unfortunately, we will never know what became of Paul and his surviving Angelic friends
The phenomenon that is Game of Thrones seems to be unstoppable at the moment. After receiving an early pick up by HBO for season two, the same thing has happened again. After only airing two episodes of season 2, HBO have renewed the show for a third season.
Even though there has been mild criticism of the amount of sex scenes in the show the ratings have been huge meaning that most people probably don’t mind them too much.
The author of the books upon which the hit series is based, George R. R. Martin revealed that the third season will be ten episodes long, the same as seasons one and two and will cover the story told in approximately the first half of the third book in the series which is called A Storm of Swords. He also revealed that he will be writing episode seven of season three, which carries on the tradition of him, so far, writing one episode per season. He wrote episode eight of season one and episode nine of season two.
